Blue Beaker Storefront

What began as a farmer’s market endeavor in 2008, Blue Beaker evolved into a full-fledged storefront in Ottawa, Illinois. Over time the shop grew, moving into one of the largest storefronts in downtown Ottawa. The store sold yarn, tea, chocolate, and specialty gifts, and offered knitting classes. At one time, Blue Beaker served soup prepared by chef Roy Peters that customers could carry out, or eat community-style at a table in the center of the store that comfortably sat seventeen. The shop eventually moved from Ottawa to Westmont, remaining in business for seven years before closing in 2015. Blue Beaker continues to produce soap, selling online at bluebeaker.com.
